Our Project Work

Microcontroller-based replacement for the PASCO Smart Timer

A project aimed to solve one main issue: cost. PASCO is a scientific equipment supplier that we use to teach Physics labs. The smart timer is a valuable peice of equipment because it can calculate not only time, but speed and acceleration in a variety of experiments. However, these units are very expensive, costing upwards of $700 each. The ultimate goal of this project is to recreate this unit using the knowledge from the physics class and a microcontroller. Further extension of this project is to recreate the PASCO photogate head system with infrared detector/emitter sensors.

Microcontroller-based LED Indicator Light Tower

A project aimed to create a busy indicator light that can be controlled over bluetooth to indicate someone's availability to others around them. Solutions exist for this, however, most are tied to a SIP system and are only reactive when the user is on a phone call. This project will allow users to manually set their availability to one of many pre-defined and common statuses: i.e., available, on a call, in a meeting, etc. without relying on their SIP system.
